Move Your MET - A Free Fitness App for Everyone

Move Your MET is a free fitness app developed by Irish Life Health in partnership with Dublin City University (DCU). It is designed to help individuals understand and improve their current level of fitness. The app is suitable for people of any fitness level and is used by participants in the Workplace Fitness Challenge.

The app calculates the user's cardiovascular fitness level based on the internationally recognised standard of Metabolic Equivalent of Task (MET). Users can test their fitness level with a 1-mile walk or 1.5-mile run completed at their fastest pace. The app measures the user's heart rate and calculates their individual MET score using their basic profile information.

Users receive personalized feedback on their fitness level in comparison to the general population of their age and gender. The app challenges users to improve their MET score and meet or exceed a MET score of 10, the minimum level recommended for individuals over the age of 18. A higher MET score indicates a higher level of fitness.

The Workplace Fitness Challenge is a program launched by Irish Life Health in partnership with DCU to support Ireland's workforce in becoming fitter and healthier by increasing levels of physical activity in the workplace.

Please note that continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
